On the October 26 episode of Dr Oz show, Dr Oz talked about human growth hormone (HGH) as a powerful anti-ager.
HGH is secreted by the pituitary gland. It helps to you keep looking and feeling vibrant by regulating body fat storage, building lean muscle mass, and strengthening collagen in your skin.
He explained that production of HGH decreases rapidly as you age. Once you reach middle age, the HGH produced is reduced by 85%!
What can you do to increase HGH level?
1. Synthetic injectable forms of HGH – These are expensive and their risks to health are not known
2. Naturally via amino acids
Amino acids are important building blocks of proteins. They are found in our bones, muscles, skin, hair and tissues. Non-essential amino acids are produced in the body while essential amino acids can only be obtained from food.
Food sources of amino acids: meat, fish, eggs, beans, nuts and seeds. You may want to consider taking an amino acid supplement if your protein intake from food is insufficient.
Dr Oz suggests an amino acid supplement that includes: glycine, ornithine, arginine and lysine. These 4 amino acids have been shown to increase HGH levels by more than 600%.
Glycine maintains strong muscles, promotes sleep and improve energy. Ornithine removes toxins from the body. Arginine regulates blood pressure and may help reduce body fat. Lysine converts fatty foods into energy.
