EGCG supplements have standardized EGCG, so you know how much EGCG you are getting in capsule. One study showed that absorption of EGCG and other polyphenols are enhanced when taken as a supplement in capsule form than as a beverage.
It is not known for sure how much EGCG is in a cup of green tea. It can vary, depending on factors such as the quality of the tea leaves, its length of storage and preparation.
For people who don’t fancy drinking green tea or are always on the go, you can still get the benefits of EGCG by taking supplements.
If you like drinking green tea, then by all means continue to do so. Personally, I enjoy my daily cups of green tea. It is packed with healthy antioxidants, contains no calorie and curbs my cravings. It is a much healthier drink than sodas, processed fruit juices, energy drinks and other sweetened beverages.
